Job Description

Optek’s distributed team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of critical hardware and software applications used by 20,000+ field technicians to diagnose and repair customer-impacting issues within the Access Network. Optek also develops and maintains multiple RF monitoring software platforms. These tools provide near real-time analysis of Comcast’s 50 million cable modems and associated network components, detect problems, and notify the correct fix agents. This software developer will be joining our team focusing on the platform side of our software development team.

Required Skills:

5+ years experience with the following technologies:

NodeJs, GraphQL API, AWS Development such as Serverless/Lambda/SNS/SQS, step functions; PostgreSQL

• Expertise in Core Java (version 8 or higher)
• Expertise with RESTful web services
• Expertise with SQL/JDBC
• Experience with Agile SDLC
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Technical Leadership. Designs new software, supports applications under development, and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases. Oversees the researching, writing and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences. Experience in process design and redesign skills.
• Follow Best Practices.Assists in tracking and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification and within budget. Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. Displays expertise in knowledge of SDLC methodologies, concepts and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
• Collaboration.Works with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specifications.
• Mentoring.Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers. Sets example with regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
